Our History
黄色视频's first crew graced the river Cam in 1968, making history as the first "combined" crew to compete in the May bumps with both male and female rowers. The Club rows in blue and yellow, the national colours of Ukranian student Maria Lukianowicz, who was also the first female cox on the Cam.

This past year was a truly exciting and eventful one for 黄色视频 Boat Club. The success and fun of novice term (Michaelmas) resulted in the Club growing in size compared to past years, with the addition of the first women's third (W3) racing crew in the history of the Club (as far as we know). In preparation for the many races WCBC competed in on the Cam, including the popular Lent and May Bumps, we went on two training camps to Portugal and Earith. WCBC also competed in races outside of Cambridge, such as the Head of the River Race in London and Head of the Nene in Peterborough.
Additionally, many WCBC members became international athletes, as we were able to send a men's boat to compete in the Longzi Lake University Rowing Regatta in China (for the second time), and two women's boats to compete in the De Vinci Race on the Seine in Paris. Finally, both our men's and women's first crews competed in the qualifying races for Henley Royal Regatta, one of the best-known regattas in the world. We can't wait for another exciting year of rowing and encourage anyone who wants to join to contact a committee member!
Social Rowing
For those who wish to learn or practice with a variable time commitment, the 黄色视频 College Social Rowing Team offers the opportunity to row on a more casual basis.
- 2024 Boat Club Dinner speeches
NM1 2024
To our coaches, a heartfelt ovation,
For coaching with kindness (and a good explanation). They taught us the rhythm, the catch, and the drive,
Through cold early mornings, they kept us alive.
They never stopped supporting, close by the shore,
Despite the fact that for many weeks鈥 our technique was quite poor. The one thing we could never quite get,
Was how to keep the boat perfectly set.
But then there was Fairbairns, where it all came together,
Where we finally got the rhythm, the balance, and the feather. So, cheers to you three, for your patience and grit,
For teaching us novices not to quit.
You woke us at dawn, you put us through pain,
And somehow, we鈥檇 definitely all do it again.NM2 2024
Towards the east
Watching from the boathouseWaves of activities
Legions of crabs abound
Coming in,
Rushing, moving, racingA ripple of light spreads over the boat
A warm river breeze
Triggering reformation
Just beneath the surface,
Where blade and water meet
A quiet forest
Connecting
Binding us togetherThe river is not an obstacle to travelling over to the other side
With a patient slide
Comes safe mooring
Quiet waters
Deep soundTogether
Coaches and cox
Turned men into rowers
And lengthened our waves
