»ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ has more part-time students than any other Cambridge College. Recognising the breadth and depth of experience that they bring to our community, we value them enormously. We believe our College support for part-time students is the best in Cambridge.
As a part-time student, you are a full member of »ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ. You are entitled to use all the College facilities, to join College societies, and to participate in College life. We do hope you will be able to get involved and enjoy your time as a »ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ student.
College Tutors
We have four College Tutors dedicated to part-time students – Christopher Coleridge, Kenny Monrose, Andrew Sanchez and Stephen Wilford. Their role is to facilitate students’ involvement, and to provide advice on personal and non-academic matters.
Coming into College
Regardless of whether you are staying here for the residential element of your course, you are very welcome to come into College at any time.
With lunchtime lectures, exhibitions and societies’ events, there’s always plenty going on at »ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ. So if you’re planning to come in, do check the calendar to find out what’s happening while you’re here.
Parking
You may use the College car park when you are in College. No permit is required, but please ensure you give your registration number to the Porters on each visit.
Lockers
Lockers for your belongings are available in the Library basement.
Eating in College
The Buttery is open every day, and you can buy meals using your University card. Here are further details on opening times, menus, and payment.
Formal Hall is a formal dinner which takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays. These evenings are a wonderful opportunity to meet members of the College, and others, from across fields and disciplines. Some ‘Formals’, such as the ‘Music and Madeira’ evenings, are very popular – so early booking is required!
You can book a Formal Hall here, and it will be charged to your College account. Dress is formal but gowns are optional. If you wish to wear a gown for Formal Hall, new and second-hand gowns are available from both and in town. For a guide on which gown to wear, please see .
Please note, at the end of your studies, if you choose to graduate in person, you will be required to wear a gown. Please see the information on our Graduation Attire webpage.
Library
The Lee Library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the year. As well as being a peaceful working space, it offers a wealth of resources for study and tailored academic skills support. But if you can't visit us in person, here's how to get access to research and support wherever you are. We offer services specifically for part-time students, in addition to the services and facilities open to all. The Librarian, Laura Jeffrey, and her team are always very happy to provide help and advice.
Accommodation
As a Member of the College, you are able to book guest accommodation (subject to availability) as required, but please note that only full-time students are able to book a room to 'live' in i.e. on an annual licence. Your course administrator will let you know whether accommodation is provisionally reserved in which case you simply need to confirm your booking around two weeks before each residential session.
During term there are usually only double rooms available but outside of term there is often single accommodation with shared or en-suite facilities. Stays in single rooms are also charged £15 per week for bedding and towels. Charges for the double rooms include this provision in the cost quoted.
